LEFT: The Director Tower photographed before the Fort was restored. In front of the Tower in the gun pit was mounted an 8 Inch BL Gun Barrel. This is now displayed near the Gunners' Shelter between the 6 Inch Battery and Mount Siloso.

CENTRE & RIGHT: The Tower after restoration. Figures representing British gunners have been placed in the windows. The colours used to paint the Tower are not as originally used, which were much darker and less easy to see from a distance. A sound system has been installed and the speakers can be seen in the top floor of the Tower.

Locking LugEntry LadderLEFT: Entry to the Director Tower, which has three floors, is by means of this thirteen rung ladder. To the left of the ladder is the slot providing access to the gun pit.

RIGHT: The lug on which the steel shutter covering the slot would be locked onto.

The first floor measures some 2.95 metres deep and 3.15 metres wide. There is one steel-shuttered window in the right hand wall. It measures approximately one metre high and 1.1 metres long. The window is just less than a metre from the floor.

The ladder at the top floorUp another another ladder (15 rungs) which is at the back left side of the Tower to the next floor. This floor has three windows, each with steel shutters — one on the front, and one on each side.

Another ladder (14 rungs) on the rear right side of the Tower takes you to the top floor. The photograph on the left shows the top of the ladder with a grab rail above it. On the safety rail, there is an eye to which a safety chain would be attached.
