The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London, is home for several hundred former soldiers. It was founded by King Charles II in 1682 for veterans of the army with 20 years of service, and for soldiers who had become unfit for duty or who had been wounded.
The Scarlet uniform is a modern version of the uniform worn in the Duke of Marlborough’s time.
